ITS OKAY TO BE IN LOVE
Sons of April began their music journey officially in November of 2020. Marcus and Ray have always had an interest with music, Ray being a poetry writer and Marcus writing his own songs since pre-teen years. After the global pandemic led these two men to losses, SOA was created. Marcus and Ray were both born April 1992, giving them their name, Sons of April. Marcus and Ray refer to themselves as brothers since meeting in 2011 in the Air Force and beginning a lifelong bond over basketball, music, and love.
Like music is for most of us, SOA uses writing as an escape, a therapy. Marcus and Ray write about their different journeys of love, relationships, and heartbreak. SOA highlights some of their favorite musical influences as Common, Wale, Andre 3000, PM. Dawn, J Cole, Kanye West, and Jay Z.
Sons of April released their first single and still most streamed song in March of 2021, 'Focused' , having over 50,000 streams and counting.
